When Is the Best Time to Perform Umrah from the UK?

3 September 2026  ·  UmrahMiles Team  ·  1 min read

Ramadan, school holidays or a quiet winter month? We compare the seasons so you can choose the right time for your family, budget and worship.

Umrah can be performed throughout the year, but the season you choose affects the price, the crowds and the weather. Here is how the main travel periods compare for pilgrims from the UK.

Ramadan

Umrah in Ramadan carries great reward, and the atmosphere in Makkah and Madinah is unforgettable — especially in the last ten nights. It is also the busiest and most expensive time, so booking early is essential.

UK school holidays

Easter, summer, October half-term and Christmas are popular with families. Prices rise during these weeks, but travelling together as a family makes them worth it for many. Summer in Saudi Arabia is very hot, so plan Tawaf for the cooler hours.

Quieter months

Outside Ramadan and the school holidays — for example parts of January, February and November — packages are often better value, hotels near the Haram are easier to secure and the weather is milder.
